Advice on Approach for Templates

Hey all,

I have been trying to figure out the best approach that suits my needs and I would love your input.

The site I'm developing will contains about 6-10 items which the users can customize.

Each item will offer a "Start from Scratch" option as well as multiple ready-made designs BUT WHICH THEY HAVE THE OPTION TO CUSTOMIZE AS WELL.

For mugs let's say, I will have a vanilla/blank mug, as well as 20-30 designs which I would like to show as separate items on the site:

  - Clicking on the blank would take them to the product page, where they can customize.

  - Clicking on a designed mug, will also take them to the item page, but now when they open the customization (FPD) they can edit the already made design (or leave it as is).

So my question is what is the best and most efficient way to create the products in FPD so that I can achieve it.

BTW, my designs are vector designs.

Thanks for taking the time to read the above.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.
