[Jquery] save layout with script command

Is there any way I can save my layout via a javascript command? I saw that after I click on the save button it saves the data in localstorage, but I need it to be something dynamic, like for example: when I click on the done button, it saves automatically, so I could recover later.

  I didn't find it through the jquery library or through the forum.
