Any plans to implement a brush or pencil tool to allow users to handwrite their name or do simple line art drawings?

Easily create your shapes in SVG and offer these in the designs module, that the easiest solution.

This is added an own add-on for Fancy Product Designer, available for WordPress/WooCommerce and JQuery.
